Haven't been checking SOVOTO a lot lately, sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Anyway, VT and Behavioral Optometry date back to 1928. It probably had it's largest popularity in the 1950's and 1960's. In the 60's it got a big boost in the form of President Lyndon Johnson's daughter. She received vision therapy and preceded to become an "A" student after struggling to get C's. She was a gracious spokesperson for behavioral optometry.
Popularity waned a bit in the 70's and 80's as organized optometry moved closer to a medical approach to eye and vision care. Thankfully, today the field is booming again. The internet and sites such as SOVOTO have given patient's and parents new ways to learn about us. I believe we will look back and see the current decade as the turning point and the new golden age for VT.
