Is Strabismus a Genetic/Inherited Eye Disorder?

To all the wonderful and wise Dr.s and fellow strabismus patients out there, I have a question: Is Strabismus a Genetic / Inherited Eye Disorder? I was born with infantile esotropia, and I'm currently 8 1/2 months pregnant with my first child.  I'm wondering what the "odds" are that my child will carry the same genetic trait for strabismus.  Are there extra steps (i.e. earlier eye exams) that I should take with this child to monitor his/her eye alignment and/or binocular vision?  Any insight or…See More
