Hi Sovoto followers,
I just had an article published at BBC future that I thought might interest this group. In fact, it tries to answer some questions that I've seen here recently (such as, how is it that I can see 3D movies even though I'm stereoblind?) It's about a man who was exotropic his whole life and then suddenly acquired stereovision while watching Hugo in 3D.
Anyway, I'm posting here because I expect this forum to have the most informed response.

Thanks for taking a look,

Comment by Anna K on July 21, 2012 at 2:12pm Thanks so much for posting this story. As someone who has over the last two years transitioned from having no measurable stereo depth perception to "normal," I not only appreciate hearing about the experience of others, but also having written pieces that I can share with my friends and family, who also seem to benefit greatly from knowing that while the particulars of my journey may be unique, my experience of the world as "flat" and "not flat" is not.
I could not resist doing a bit more searching on Bruce's experience and thought others on this forum might find this link of interest. It includes a letter that Bruce wrote to Oliver Sacks and a citation to a paper co-authored by and in part evaluating Bruce's vision.
Great to see a story about Strabismus appear on the BBC website headlines. I don't think it's a coincidence that both Sue Barry and Bruce Bridgeman are neuroscientists. I believe that having a good understanding of the vision and neural mechanics plays a big part in how successful the vision training can be. Hmmm.. maybe I'll go and watch Ice age 4 in 3D with the children this weekend! Just for fun of course.
