I might have a degree of night blindness. That's not surprising given that my 60th birthday is fast approaching (next month). A young ophthalmologist noted that I have a very slight yellowing to my eyes that may contribute to the night vision problem. He then said I would likely need cataract surgery in my mid to late 60's... not sure if I believe that one. At any rate, I do wonder if I will lose peripheral vision as a result of such surgery and, in turn, could that compromise my ability to see in stereo? I wear self tinting lenses religiously now to protect my eyes as much as possible.

Prior to VT, I learned not to drive often, especially at night, preferring to be driven as a way of by-passing any driving anxiety. Perhaps it's my response to 24 years of living in NYC using public transportation. Most likely, however, it was my way of feeding my wife's need to control things in the car, my way of lessening car disputes, but I digress.

Being depended upon to pick up my wife from the nearby airport always caused me tremendous anxiety. That flight always comes in after 8:00pm, so the drive to the airport is always at dusk or in the dark. Since my VT, and perhaps because I drove so many times to my Fair Lawn, NJ sessions, I find I actually enjoy driving during the day. I'm certain that improvements in my vision thanks to VT factor in here as well. As I've posted often, I love to drive when in stereo.

Robin hasn't travelled by air since I began VT. The next time I drive to pick her up will be in mid-January. I wonder whether that night drive will be one filled with anxiety or exhilaration?

I also enjoy highway driving during the day more now than before VT. As a matter of fact, I was walking last week in a park and I felt the ground moving under me like I do when I am driving on the freeway. I was walking alone and not listening to music so I was really paying attention to what I was seeing.
