Hi Dr. Fortenbacher,
I have been working as a vision therapist for the past 3 years in Calgary, (would LOVE to be certified, need a FCOVD). However when we shut down our department, I went back to working as a Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant, but in an office in Northern Alberta (Grande Prairie). The closest VT to us is 5 hours away in Edmonton. We also have a LOT of people with binocular dysfunction. Only one of our 12 doctors is interested in pursuing VT. She's just finished her M.Ed this season, has done a couple externships in VT as well...and is hoping to present to the rest of the doctors that this is a viable and very valuable addition to our practice. I'm hoping that these Grande Prairie patients would be interested in starting vision therapy if we are approved!
Her motivation was that her best friend just got glasses and everyone thinks she looks cute with them. My "technique" was splitting the chart with the red/green and putting red/green goggles on her. that seemed to confuse her enough that she started reading letters not knowing which eye she was using. Best case of fake amblyopia I have seen in years.
Thanks! Hopefully I will be able to figure out how this works. I looked at the site last night and watched some of the videos. It was really interesting!
hello
I'm wondering if you could tell me how the Janet Goodrich Method plays into the therapy you do at wow. I'm thinking of purchasing the book "how to improve your child's eye sight naturally". What is your opinion?
I appreciate your inviting me to participate. I don't know how often I will be able to contribute, seems like there is a million of these things out there. But, I appreciate being included.
I guess I will see you on Friday. Looking forward to an expensive meal. It better be good. :-))
It was great visiting with you. You are most welcome for everything, but it is me who should be thanking you for making the trip and providing lunch. I got a lot out of our time together and look forward to making the most out of our professional association.
Hi Dan,
nice to meet here too. Electronics are really bridging the Atlantic gap this way. It will take me a little while to find my way around in this forum, but I'll keep at it.
See you.
